Transitioning from the classroom to corporate was not without its days.
One of the biggest hurdles has been learning all the new tools.
So here is an exhaustive list of ALL the things I've had to use in the last year, most of which I had to learn for the first time. I'm sure I'm missing some:
Outlook
Confluence
Jira
Tableau
Concurr
Kbox
ADP
Miro
Vyond
Movavi Video Editor
Movavi Screen Recorder
Snagit
Audition
Handbrake
PowerPoint
Excel
SQL
Articulate Storyline
SAP Litmos LMS
Slack
Survey Monkey
eLearning Brothers Training Arcade
ATD
HSA
DCA
401K
DISC Profile
Working Genius
FIS
CIS
Payroll
AP
My company's software
I bet if I compared this to all the things I had to learn each year of my 14 years in the classroom, that list would be longer!
This may look daunting - but I have mastered some of these programs faster than my teammates and there are others that I am just starting to learn. But THAT'S OK! because someone else on my team is better at those than me and I can rely on them to help me when I need them.
Regardless of where each of us is in our level of proficiency with all the programs and things we use, we are all constantly learning a better way and sharing it with each other.
So the next time you are trying to decide if you should apply or not, remember that you won't be going alone. IT'S OK if you can't do EVERYTHING, as long as you have a willingness to learn and the perseverance to never give up.
How do I learn more about transitioning to instructional design?
