What picture are you trying to portray of yourself in your resume?
I know you can probably find these on your own - it's just a Google away!
But here are the websites I use most often when I am revising a resume:
FORMAT - This website is a GOLDMINE I didn't have the words to articulate what I've been telling people to do, so I searched for it. It's called a combination resume! It's exactly what you need if you are transitioning into a new career but you already have all the skills required from previous jobs. Before you go and totally redo your resume - take a look at my sample resume here. It's a combination resume - I just happened to "link" each skill to a role and each role to a job where I performed in that role. It's the best of both worlds IMHO!
VERBS - This resource from Indeed lists tons of action verbs and categorizes them by different skills. This a great way to include variety and also be more specific about exactly what it is that you did.
SKILLS - if you have ANY of these skills be sure they are in your summary and one of the first words in the sentence.
SUMMARY - A good summary is often better than the thing it's summarizing. Sometimes I can skip and entire move just by watching the trailer.
ACHIEVEMENTS - Saying "He's a hero" is different than saying "He saved someone's life when he jumped into the ice-cold river, pulled their lifeless body from the water, and breathed life back into them until the paramedics arrived and took over."
Seriously - I visit these same websites over and over again, and each time I do, I find another nugget! Find ways to adapt them to your resume, your skills, and your accomplishments!
You don't have to be a wordsmith to write a winning resume, you just have to be selective in what you include and HOW you frame it.
